DO I NEED TO SERVICE MY NIKO CART?

Need to update all FAQs!Yes. Your cart will need very minimal service, but the small things you do now will prolong the life of your cart.

WHAT CAN I DO TO SERVICE MY CART?

Daily: Charge batteries fully.

Weekly:

  • Checking tire pressure (24 PSI for Lifted & 30 PSI for Non-Lifted carts)
  • Check all lights (headlights, taillights, turn signals)
  • Horn Operation

Monthly:

  • Check and fill battery water levels (serviceable batteries only/distilled water only). NOTE: Lithium batteries are maintenance free
  • Clean battery terminals of corrosion and apply anti-corrosive spray/gel
  • Tighten battery terminal connections if required

Yearly:
Schedule your yearly service with your NIKO dealer for critical fluid changes, grease the front end and other serviceable fittings, electrical services, overall inspection, tyre rotation, etc.

WHAT SIZE SOCKET DO I NEED TO REMOVE WHEEL NUTS FROM TYRES?

A 19mm or a 3/4 socket will work to remove your wheel nuts.

WHAT IS THE TORQUE SPECIFICATION FOR MY WHEEL NUTS?

Wheel Nuts should be torqued to 75-88 Nm. They should also be tightened in proper sequence.

DO ALL NIKO'S HAVE THE SAME KEY?

Yes. where keys are required (not applicable to push button starts as they are keyless).

CAN I LIFT OR LOWER MY CART?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to adjust the ride height of the lifted carts right now. The frames of the two types of carts are slightly different, so parts aren’t interchangeable. While changing tyre sizes can alter the vehicle’s height, the suspension itself will remain at its current level.

HOW LONG IS MY BATTERY WARRANTY FROM NIKO?

Lithium Batteries: All Lithium Batteries will be covered for 5 years (3 years full replacement value, and 2 years prorated.)*

Exclusions for coverage would include the following:

  • Lack of maintenance
  • Undercharging the cart battery regularly
  • Battery failure due to a third party outside electrical source or wiring issue
  • Tampering with the charger or charger algorithms.

*PLEASE NOTE* NIKO’s proprietary battery is the ONLY authorised Lithium battery to be installed on an NIKO EC. Any other Lithium battery, from any other supplier will void the NIKO Warranty.

HOW DO I CHARGE MY BATTERIES?

To charge your vehicle, park close enough to an outlet or charging point so the provided cable can reach. Ideally, use a dedicated circuit or one with minimal other appliances. Avoid using circuits shared with high-amperage devices like air conditioners.

Once the cable is plugged into the outlet, connect it to your vehicle’s charging port. The charge indicator light will illuminate red when charging begins. The light will change from red to yellow and then green as the battery charges.

Let the charging cycle complete until the indicator is green. While you can leave the cable plugged in, the charger has an automatic shut-off and doesn’t trickle charge. Once charging is complete, it won’t restart unless you unplug and re-plug the cable from the car.

I JUST GOT MY NEW CART, DO I NEED TO “BREAK IN” MY BATTERIES?

Yes, new batteries arrive at about 75% of their full capacity. To maximize their lifespan, it’s crucial to follow a break-in procedure for the first 10-20 charge/discharge cycles.

Here’s the recommended process:

Initial Charge: Fully charge the new batteries before their first use.

Charge/Discharge Cycle:

    • Plug the vehicle in and let it charge until the charger automatically shuts off.
    • Drive the vehicle until the batteries reach approximately 75% capacity (consult the voltage chart or use about 9 holes of golf as a guideline).
    • Plug the vehicle back in and allow it to fully charge. It’s essential to let the charge cycle complete without interruption.
    • Repeat this charge/discharge cycle for the first 10-20 cycles. You should notice improved power, speed, and runtime around the 12th cycle.

Important Battery Care Tips (for the entire battery lifespan):

  • Never discharge the batteries below 50% capacity.
  • Never store the batteries in a discharged state for extended periods.
  • Recharge the batteries every two weeks if the vehicle is not in use or in storage. When in doubt, recharge them.

DO BATTERIES SELF-DISCHARGE WHEN NOT IN USE?

Yes, all batteries self-discharge, it’s a natural process. The rate at which they lose their charge varies depending on the battery type, its age, and the temperature it’s stored at.

ARE MY BATTERIES COVERED UNDER THE 5-YEAR WARRANTY?

All NIKO Lithium Batteries will be covered for 5 years (3 years full replacement value, and 2 years prorated.)*

Exclusions for coverage would include the following:

  • Lack of maintenance
  • Undercharging the cart battery regularly
  • Battery failure due to a third party outside electrical source or wiring issue

CAN I HAVE ANOTHER DEALER WORK ON MY CART?

Yes, any authorized NIKO EC dealer can handle warranty repairs, but your original dealer is your primary point of contact for post-sale warranty service. While parts will be provided by the manufacturer if you choose a different authorised dealer, that dealer may charge for labour. Using unauthorised repair facilities may void your warranty.

WILL ADDING ACCESSORIES TO MY CART VOID MY WARRANTY?

Accessories are welcome additions to your NIKO EC cart and generally won’t affect your warranty. However, if a problem arises and it’s directly caused by an accessory, that specific issue might not be covered. To maintain your warranty, it’s essential to have all accessories installed by an authorised NIKO EC dealer.
